The $40 AC Compatible Log Manifold
Seen a lot of people making their own log mani's on here so I figured I'd give it shot. This will be a minor upgrade from the HF manifold I was going to use, so I didn't want to spend a whole lot of money on it.
Brace yourselves... Home Depot plumbing elbows and tees. ~$7 Head Flange from Weir Technologies ~$20 T25 Flange from Weir ~$10 Flanges are in the mail, will finish up when they arrive. Conception: http://terpconnect.umd.edu/~cmgreen/Mani/1.JPG The goal; A lot of grinding required: http://terpconnect.umd.edu/~cmgreen/Mani/2.JPG After welding; Flux Core Chinese Mig FTMFW!: http://terpconnect.umd.edu/~cmgreen/Mani/3.JPG Gnarliest weld: http://terpconnect.umd.edu/~cmgreen/Mani/4.JPG For those of you who don't know, behold the glory that is sandblasting. Takes things that look like crap and makes them awesome. I'm also convinced sandblasting can fix ANYthing... but I digress: http://terpconnect.umd.edu/~cmgreen/Mani/5.JPG Spatter up! http://terpconnect.umd.edu/~cmgreen/Mani/6.JPG An inside view: http://terpconnect.umd.edu/~cmgreen/Mani/7.JPG Thoughts, suggestions, praises, and critiques welcome! |
Re: The $40 AC Compatible Log Manifold
the threads add turbulance, helping the exhaust pulses merge into one as they enter the turbo

I like, but if you dont have the head flange how do you know your spacing between the runners is correct?

The real beauty of this is that everything is screwed together, even the tees have a 1/2" length of a close nipple in between them. Even if my welds were total ----, the thing would still hold itself together and decently maintain pressure. |
