Default why is fmu SSSSSOOOOOO shitty?

why does everyone say that fmus are worthless and such? i mean its better than nothing right? some of the high dollar kits like rev hard come with them. granted ecu tuning is exponentially better, but whats wrong with running an fmu till i can buy a chipped ecu from xenocron. not saying you guys are wrong or anything, im definitely here to learn, i just wanted to know. ya know?

ya it should be cool for a low low boost set up make shure you have a wideband or at least one of those rice a/f ration guages hooked up to your stock narrow band o2 sensor.. so it wont lean out on you make shure it stays on the farr green side (rich)

Because you have to run stock injectors and there is no timing control. Also revhard kits are basically garbage.

They suck because most OEM fuel pumps suck. Too much boost, and your pump screams for mercy. You also have no timing control, unless you want to install a crude timing retard gismo like MSD sells.

As for the kits, they do that they *know* half their customers would ---- things up if they had to touch any wires, and get a bad rap from it. It also prices them more competitively, and if you can sell soemthing that much easier than the 'other guy', regardless of a kit's incompleteness (of which they can't return w/o a restocking fee), you make more money. As you know, thats 1 of the 3 things this world runs on, besides ----- and oil.

Believe me, even with an FMU..on a low boost setup, FMU's will still make everything a headache. And its not just (oh the car runs rich) sometimes it will run rich enough to complete stall the motor, if the rpms drop, the motor wants to stall, at higher boost the A/F is all over the place with an FMU..usually either pig rich or lean never a halfway decent ratio. and in my friends case the car ran for two days and fouled out 3 sets of plugs before it wouldn't even start anymore. They're a crude way of just forcing more fuel through the injectors to run in a "safe"" af range..you'd be better off just leaving it with just adding some extra injectors on boost-triggered switches plumbed into the fuel line.

Fatty fuel pump, adjustable FPR (for turning down idle fuel pressure), FMU, fat return lines, injectors, and a BTM box for retard. Happy boosting!

i ran fmu's on my first 4 turbo'ed civics never had a problem ever the first one ran fine for 2 years. 8psi daily and up to 12 at the track all i ever did was retard my timming at the dizzy

The best part is everything but the cheapo $50-75 FMU can be used if you step up to a real management system. Scratch the BTM if you want since it's pricey and just do like bitchass said and turn the dizzy back.

THANK YOU!!!! youre the first person here to agree w/ the fmu. installed it tonite and finally got to beat on it!! this ---- pulls nice at 6psi. cant wait to get it tuned, but more focused on getting the d/p and w/g dump connected tthe exhaust. cant wait to run some fox bodies!!
