I have them...
Digikey has them...
JDR has them...
All american I believe has them...
There is a link in the FAQ where they have a good price (but you have to buy a minimum qty.
Search Google for "29c256 eprom" and Im sure stuff will come up.

Re:where to buy atmel 29c chips for next to nothing?
i got an email from digikey today saying that atmel is discontinuing the 29c256... i was like WTF!?
they gave me a link to their site saying that if there is a substitute it would automaticly show up on the list.
the link took me to a page that said something along the lines of... sorry there is currently no substitution for this item...
i don't know what the deal is...
someone let us know if you hear anything...

I got the same email...there seems to be 800+ of these left though and you can always order a faster or slower chip. They will probably just stop carrying the 70ns version or come out with an updated piece soon.
