whats the probem with fmu's
It seems that allot of people on this site dislike setups with FMUs. I was wondering whats the problem with this setup if you have a boost timing master for retard diffrent injectors and a high presure fuel pump. I understand that madly retarding your engine isint good, but i know a guy with an fmu/high presure fuel pump/injector with a retard set up and it runs fine daily at 7psi. I have my turbo and my manifold and the intercooler from my freinds gs-t and i realy dont know what fuel management set up i should run. standalone isint an option right now becaue i dont want to dump 1200 bucks into a computer. please help me out thanks

Not to be an ***, but I think you have a few things confused. The FMU doesn't advance your ignition. It just raises the fuel pressure to a dangerous level and puts a large strain on the injectors and fuel pump. You have no tuning options with it. You just slap it on and hope for the best. That's gay.
If you install larger injectors, you need something to control them with because the stock ECU will not compensate for larger injectors by itself.
Running TurboEdit with 450cc DSM injectors will run you a couple hundred bucks and you will have superior tuning capability along with a nice power gain over an FMU or AFC alone.

Re:whats the probem with fmu's
i know that the boost advances your timing and you need to retard your timing to reduce your chances of detonation. but..
i dont have a honda i have a toyota with a 3SGE. So turbo edit realy isint an option unless someone could somehow modify the stock ecu, but if i was going to do that i would just go out and buy a haltec ex6 or somthing. I have diffrent injectors out of a supra im using the ct26 out of a supra as well, with a ghetto *** manifold. would it be worth it to run a piggyback system insted of the fmu i only want to run 8 psi. thank you for the help very much

Boost doesn't advance your timing. Crappy piggy back systems advance your timing. It's also safer to run less timing on F/I applications.
For only 8psi, I might use an FMU, but no more than 8psi. If you're not looking to break any hp records than just stick with the FMU and call it a day. If/when you get serious you can upgrade to a real fuel management system.
