Bad tunes are pretty bad too

I had a fmu on my old b16t, ran ok and pushed boost to the normal 6-8. For me it was a great temporary and very simple solution. I mean plug in a vacumme line mount the fmu and your done. i see it like a carburator, only worse. with this it giving a set amount of fuel up and down the rpm band (relative to boost).

After i wanted more options i went and bought one of the first sub 800$ widebands (innovate LM1 i think it was), and some 450cc dsms. ran the hack for about another year at max of about 11-14 psi on b16 and ls/vtec. all street tune, colder plugs. dynod something like 215 (really small turbo )

that was years ago and now it is much easier to get chips done and base maps that dont suck.

although i know and have run previous ghetto methods end result is i will not do it again. my next setup will be chip and tune. once you have that its just simple. and these days the cost is about the same

the biggest problem with one of these is the fact that one day "low boost" wont be enough
and you will crank it up to the next level...
with chipping someones been there done that and has a chip or what ever to set you up trouble free

been there done that... didn't blow up my engine

I'd say go for it but keep the boost at or below 5 pounds which was hard trust me...
2x

i actually used a 12:1 fmu, stock fuelpump and chipped my ecu and tuned it with turboedi and also used the FMU. 5 psi. stock injectors.

i had 450cc injecotrs but 2 were somehow not injecting because they layed on the self for 2 years.
