Ive been on this forum log enough to tell that the majority of the people here are like me.We arent geniouses but we are masters of ingenuity when it comes to making ---- work thats not supposed to.Sean you did come off with your first post like you are greater than all of us that arent that keen on engine manegement. You can be an asset to this site just dont be an -------.

If you want to help people out as you say, post your imformation and ask a mod to put a sticky on it so if some of us need to read it 20 times to understand it we can withought being belittled.

i didn't take offence to it, i could tell it was just a playful way of trying to spark some "engine management" conversation, in a EM forum. if you guys didn't want to comment, or guess, then you really didn't for some reason, when someone sparks a challenge i was eager to look it up and see what i was missing out on, because of this sort of thing, and lurking on pgmfi, i have a greater understanding of how to tune my car once everything gets going thanks sean and scarecrow.

and i cant really ask about advanced tuneing when i dont know what to ask, so if you have any more info, i'll be in that post too, trying to understand.

What is BMEP??" - i'd like to know too.

also so before we hit full boost should we lean out the fuel because the VE is less efficient then gradually raise it till we get to 90-100 (run normal here) then more as it steadily rises..., while retarding timeing for boost like the maphack rom does.
Well igintion timming is a tricky bastard for sure. There all of things that facotr into what is the best ignition lead. the best way i have found is to start really low and keep advancing till i stop making TQ. once i see a drop in TQ or the TQ platueas then i know ive made all the BEMP or cylinder pressure im am going to make so more or less spoark is a waste.

Yes a bigger turbine housing will increase VE. It will also lower the pressure ratio of the turbo to a point. but its nto significant enough to contiue running the .48 im currently running. im looking at a .63 or .80 turbine housing now. im figuring if i can increase the VE 15% then ill make more power at the same boost level.

As for running lean with the VAFC hacks thats sort of the issue with running a Hack VS a ECM that actually understands and managems fuel and spark according to Manifold pressure.

The honestly SAD thing is, PGMFI has been around working on editors for how long? Ok, well long enough, found out alot of information.. GOOD JOB. But check this out, a new kid comes around, spends hardly any of the time the rest of you have, asked questions and learned quickly, made an editor that anybody can use.. OMG VIN DOOZLE LOVES THIS GUY. GhD is, in hex turns 1001, or in verbal terms, POOP.

VIN DOOZLE ROX UR SOX!

Wow, I can't believe you said that out loud.

Mike: VIN DOOZLE!@!@! Hmm. how many grey cells are awake in that head?

Sean: I understand very well how putting a turbine that changes the flow characteristics of exhaust leaving the head changes the VE or a motor. How is VE affected by a supercharger? I have a friend with a JRSC B18C1 with the stock FMU on it that I've been promising to help out here for a while, and I wanted to get some idea of what to do for a base before I went widebanding.

well in general it might reuce ve but not in signifcant amounts. it would be hard to tell becuase the SC is always moving air. i doubt you could see so much of a VE loss as a parasitic drian. i would think that if the superchagrer were diconetced via belt drive etc then it would appear to be 10-15% total loss of airflow. but as i mentioned the fact that the rotors are pulling air into the engine then only real loss i would epexct to see would be a parasitic one.in fact the SC might incnrease VE at the higher pressure just before boost as it begins to stak air into the engine.

your expericnes might be different but this is what i have observed.

I've also never studied the theory, but like to feel that I'm not a retard when it comes to motors in general.

As far as the JRSC goes, wouldn't there be even more to factor in? I mean, the bypass for vac would throw a kink in a simple formula, not to mention there is still parasitic(sp?) drain from spinning the rotors. I don't have tons of first hand experience, just common sense and educated guessing.

I was gonna use the afc hack just because I couldn't figure out what any of you intellects were talking about. Thanks to topics like, "turbo edit for dummies" for allowing me to say, "ok, it's for dummies so I won't get flamed for asking anything", and trying to learn. It's hard to figure out whether ecu tuners are really out to help everyone, or just trying to compete in a who's smarter contest. Luckily, I was able to begin to understand why it's more beneficial/less expensive to reprogram ecu's and not just go with an afc. PEOPLE USE AFC'S BECAUSE THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT YOUR TALKING ABOUT.
-just another guy working on his first turbo kit.

Exactly. This is why I sold all my chip burning gear and stuck with the AFC. I can't understand these languages. I tried like hell, but it wasn't happening.
