Actually, -000 denotes it as a world part, of no specific market of origin. That ECU could have been stuffed into most anything at some point, or be a replacement part purchased from the dealer.

I dont agree that it denotes that it is of no specific origin, yes it could have been stuffed into anything at any point but, a PWO-OOO is the factory fit ECU for the SiR and the Euro and UK models use the XOO and EOO cant remember what goes in each though

-000 is a world part, fact.

Whether or not it came factory in your car is irrelevant. But, most JDM ECUs sport the -Jxx tag.

all the CRX SiR's that I have been in, or know of came with a PWO-OOO, I have not heard of a PWO-JOO, I cant even find a J-- on PGMFi, which also states that the OOO is as JDM unit, Im not saying your wrong, all Im saying is that I cant find any information that back up your statement as being true

The search engine on the wiki is horribly broken.

Ask any experienced Honduh parts person about the origin tag at the end of a Honduh part number... for example, your ECU in question:

37820-PW0-000

The first five digit number indicates what part it is, ie ECU, axle, cam seal, etc.

The middle three digit alphanumeric code is the chassis code the part comes from... when it is a "universal" part this code is from the earliest origin. This is why you find a lot of PM3 or PM5 misc parts on 88-91 era cars, including the JDM stuffs. Ever notice the SH3 on your tie rod ends?

The last three digit alphanumeric code... first digit denotes market (E, C, J, 0, etc) and the last two revision. Some revised parts are particular to year/model/trim level, others are meant to supercede all (or some) previous parts. In the case of pistons/rings, they often denote oversize as well.

You can credit TJ Schmidt with pointing this out to myself, and a great many others. TJ keeps a low profile, but it was amusing to watch him thoroughly school Brian G of HASport about B-swaps into EW chassis a couple years back. Mista Bone remembers TJ and can vouch for the guy as a walking Gospel.

Now, I'm not saying your car didn't come with an -000 from the OEM, and my cursory look into the subject I'm not finding anything other than PW0-000 mentioned, but I have OBD0 PR3-J01 and -J51 sitting downstairs. A numbering system is only as perfect as the people implementing it, and there might be anything from good reason to no reason why your car got -000.

Sorry if this has turned into an ordeal, I'm not trying to attack you. I see where you honestly misread N1ghtH0nkey's reply, hell I want to smack the guy myself when he's going out of the way to be nice. :P

No worries, I didnt take it as a personal attack, if you were a dumbass or a newb I may have gotten annoyed.

You can obviously see how this is somewhat confusing, the PR3 has the J-- to denote that it is for the japanese market. I agree with the numbering system as the other ECU's I have worked with, from a quick glance, seem to follow this rule. However, the chances of all the JDM SiR CRX's I have dealt with, having a replacement OOO ecu in are unrealisticly high, which to me tells me that they were put in from the factory unless there was a product recall and that they were replaced with OOO unit.

I guess this is something we arent going to get to the bottom of though

TJ is the freakin man. One of the great minds of the old hybrid forum. Too bad 90 percent of people dont even know the roots. Hybrid memeber since Junior year in HS. Joe_R is still my hero.

I was there for a couple months before the Alley. I forget how old I was, but I was still banging HS Juniors.

Never really had Joe Rogers strike me one way or the other. But, ---- if Del Emerson isn't the nicest guy ever... I think I still owe him two ECUs

Joe_R never did crazy builds but he was the guy to get solid info and how to's in one area. For that if I ever meet the guy gotta buy him a 40. Hell before Hybrid i thought engine swaps were impossible. Man 1997 doesnt seem that long ago.
