Default timing retard

i know it's been asked but i'm in a hurry. I have a 99 sohc non vtec boosted motor. i wanna run 7-8 pounds of boost. how much should i retard my timing from the dizzy. please help running out of time.

What are you using for fuel management? I would leave it at the stock timing and try that first. If theres no detonation you'll be fine. If you have detonation, use a timing light and retard the timing slowly a few degrees at a time until you figure out where there is no detonation.
Keep in mind by retarding timing at the distribitor, you will loose bottom end power.

i'm using rc 440's with the safc hack. once and awhile i'll here a little pinging while i'm stopped. So that's why i'm asking. it's not doing it all the time though. i have it set to 5 psi but i want to put it up to 7 or 8 cause i'm going to the track to see how fast this thing can go.
