Hey man. My relationship with my Burn1 is love/hate or more like love/highly annoying. I had/have THE EXACT SAME PROB you are having. Took me like two days to get the things to burn a chip. It still is very temperamental, but when it works, it is awesome. I think the most important thing I learned is SET THE COM PORT FOR MOATES BURNER TO COM2 OR MAYBE COM3. If I have it any higher, it will almost always give me that error message. Even if you have to disconnect your printer or wireless card or whatever, set the COM port to 2 if possible. Before you do anything though, I would recommend starting ALL over with you install. Uninstall everything, then start from the beginning. Follow the instructions on Moates web site for the install. Should work (most of the time ;)).
Let me know.

ok, i kno you had to select the chip ur using, im using the AT29C256, so i kno its supported.

I set it up for COM2 and still no go.

getting this when i load a .bin, and try to burn:

File Size in bytes (Integer/Hex): 32768/0x8000
Programming Device from buffer...
*********************************
ERROR: PROM I/O returned failure.

Redoing the install right now.

i think it has to be on com1. if you have hotsync it may be trying to take com1. i have to make sure that mine is plugged in before i start windows or hotsync will steal the com1.

also, one more thing: make sure you're putting the chip into the burner BEFORE you're pluggin the burner into the computer. this worked last weekend when we were tuning my buddies car. when you plug it in, you should either get no prompt, or one saying something like "unknown hardware detected" or something. if you get the unknown prompt, uninstall, reintstall, shutdown, and try again.

Nothing has worked, i gave Craig a call and we went threw everything possible and still had no luck. He's sending another out just to make sure it wasnt the computer and it's something in this burner. If the next one doesnt work, Batronix, here i come.
