obd0-obd1 harness
does anyone on here make them?
|
Re:obd0-obd1 harness
i dont believe anyone on HMT makes them. a few guys do on Honda-tech.
this company http://www.vtecfrog.com/ makes them too. |
Re:obd0-obd1 harness
Make one yourself...
I did a flat rate OBD0 -> OBD1 conversion from scratch and finished in 2 hours and 17 minutes. That included making the ECU harness, distributor harness, and getting donar parts from a California Accord ECU, chipping the P28, and installing it. You can make the harness yourself. It's cake.Get female plugs from an old PM5 DPFI ECU (dime a dozen at the junkyard), and some OBD1 plugs with about 6" of wire, and you're set. http://index.driftkids.com/Journal//...BD1Harness.jpg |
Re:obd0-obd1 harness
could u possible make me a harness and chip my ecu for me.
|
Re:obd0-obd1 harness
No.

get a natural one.. trust me. |
Re:obd0-obd1 harness
Natural? ..85wpm.. seems good enough to me.
|
Re:obd0-obd1 harness
while ur at it can u make me two and chip four of my ecus and tune 3 of my cars all for free? :P
|
Re:obd0-obd1 harness
wow did i ever say for free?

Re:obd0-obd1 harness
I highly recommand using Heat shrink on the welds
If someone in canada need a Harness, I have 2 here ;) |

Re:obd0-obd1 harness
Sorry guys, for us (French people, I live in Quebec) sold and welds is the same word in french, so I made a mistake.
Sorry |
Re:obd0-obd1 harness
no its not unless im really retarded
sold = vendu weld = soudre maybe sold ~ soudre if u rip one of ur eyes out and u squint real hard ;) |
Re:obd0-obd1 harness
Solderings = Soudure
Weldings = Soudure |
Re:obd0-obd1 harness
ahhh i get it
i really know that im confused now |

Re:obd0-obd1 harness
I'm 99% sure they are for OBD1.
OBD0 (Civic/Integra) are the same. |
Re:obd0-obd1 harness
Wow, that is great news. Sure would make everything easier if they were all uniform. I'm wanting to do an OBD0 to OBD1 conversion on my 89 LXi Accord (MPFI). It uses a PJ0 ECU, for which I can find no support. I'd like to upgrade to a P75, but need help figuring out what to do. I assume I will need to make a adapter harness, but will need a pinout diagram for each of these ECUs, right? Are there any web resources you know of that have these diagrams?
|
Re:obd0-obd1 harness
Ooo... Accords.
Hrm, your best bet is to find an OBD0 Civic ECU, throw it in, and see what happends. If it works, but throws a few codes, you know what wires to swap. :) As far as OBD1.. Civic/Integra ECUs are the same. The differences fall for Accords/Preludes. ..same with OBD0, which is why I suggest trying an OBD0 Civic ECU before you start messing with things. |
Re:obd0-obd1 harness
First, thanks for all the help. Second, what Civic ECU(s) would you suggest? I've got a local pick'n'pull here, so should not be too bad. Which ones would be best for a 2.0 MPFI and has a lot of support for boost?
Oh, forgot to mention, I'm trying to keep this smog legal as well. Houston requires it. |
Re:obd0-obd1 harness
Well, the thing is you're really getting into two different things..
I was jsut suggesting that you borrow someone's ECU (a buddy's or something) and plug it in and see if it works. Now, if you want to _run_ an OBD0 for boost support, use a PM6, and the TurboEDIT software. Then you'll have boost and a few other features. |
Re:obd0-obd1 harness
Sorry, forgot the other reason why I wanted to go OBD1. My dizzy is vac advanced and I wanted to change it for ECU timing control. Back to square 1?
|
Re:obd0-obd1 harness
Where can I find a pinout diagram for a OBD1 p75?
|
Re:obd0-obd1 harness
Well, not all OBD0 distributors are vac advanced.
..but before you could go to "OBD1", you need to swap to MPFI "OBD0". Then, from there, you can make another harness to go to OBD1 if you still wanted to. ..though, it sounds like you wouldn't need to for that far. I would search Honda-Tech, first, to get the information needed to be a MPFI setup of the 88-91 Civics. Then the pin-out for OBD1 Civic/Integra is in the PGMFI Wiki (http://wiki.pgmfi.org). |
Re:obd0-obd1 harness
Okay, could not find pinout for Integra/Civic, unless you are refering to the B16A2? That was the only one I could find. Would it be the same for a p75, or maybe a pr4?
|
Re:obd0-obd1 harness
OBD1 -> any Civic/Integra pinout will work.
OBD0 -> Looking for a 1991 Civic Si, PM6 ECU pinout. |
Re:obd0-obd1 harness
Okay, from what I've seen so far, the PM6 you suggested is a very popular ECU choice, so that is good as far as support goes. Three things though:
1. Will this be okay on a 2.0L engine? 2. Is the 91 CRX Si distributor electronic advance? 3. Do you know how similar OBD0 harnesses are? Can I just swap ECU's, or will there be different sensors/inputs that will need to be modified? Again, apreciate you patience on this. |
Re:obd0-obd1 harness
Here is all the info you need to build these harnesses.
http://www.pgmfi.org/twiki/bin/view/...KurtsOBD0-OBD1 I have built 3 of these using this guide and every car fired right up with no problems. Just make sure to take your time and double check each connection because its really easy to mix a pin or two around after soldering so many connections. |

Yes, if you modify the maps. 2. Is the 91 CRX Si distributor electronic advance? Yes. 3. Do you know how similar OBD0 harnesses are? I believe Accords might be a bit different than Civics. Check a Helms. Can I just swap ECU's, or will there be different sensors/inputs that will need to be modified? You'll probably have to swap a few wires around. Add a TDC CYP and such.. All of which would have to be done before you could go to OBD1 (if you still wanted to) anyway. |
Re:obd0-obd1 harness
Guys, thanks for all your help. Omahaturbocivic, great link. That will be my bible when I start. By the way, the three cars you've done these in, any Accords? Jason, thanks especially for your patience ;D! I'll be sure to let you know how it turns out. I appreciate your suggestion on the CRX, and I think I will start out with that for my first try. If it fails, I guess I will go with the OBD1 conversion. Again, thanks a bunch.

Re:obd0-obd1 harness
should make good conversion sites a sticky or put with engine mangagment sticky

You biggest issue may be deciding what mpfi distributor will be your best bet to fit on the motor. If you stay obd0 you could possibly use a d16a6 b18a or b16a distributor depending on if any of those can be made to fit your motor, obd1 you can use pretty much whatever distributor you can get to fit best wether that be from a newer accord, civic, integra, whatever. There may not be one that fits exact but by drilling out or cutting some of the legs you can hopefully get something to work. Like stated above you may be adding adding a few wires from the distributor to the ecu you as well as splicing in different clips. |
Re:obd0-obd1 harness
Hey, great info. Yeah, I've got a pinout diagram for my ol' PJ0, so I'll be doing some comparing. Is the PM6 in the '90 the same as the '91? Just wondered since you guys refer to only the '91. One guy I've seen used a F-22 dizzy ('90-'93 Accord) in his OBD swap, but it did need a bit of modifying to fit. Thanks again for the help.
PS Where can I get a pinout diagram for PM6, PR4 and/or P75? |
