Re:obd0 to obd1 conversion harness excel files

Exactly! For those doing this exact swap, it is great, but for poor folks like me who have an older ECU, it doesn't help much at all. I've been saying that, but all I get is "well hell, I read it and did one in 5 minutes". Well hell, let me send you my pinouts and see you do it then!!! Good write up, but it ain't the Bible for ALL obd0 to obd1 conversions.

Re:obd0 to obd1 conversion harness excel files

is crx88si's pinout correct? the obd1 plugs I got are missing alot of pins in the locations where ---- is suposed to go.

Re:obd0 to obd1 conversion harness excel files

which harness did u get it from? DX, ex, si, cx?

iNetForce 08-10-2004 06:28 AM

Re:obd0 to obd1 conversion harness excel files

dx and si are pretty much the same, you dothe mpfi swap, then you go for this.

88crxSi 08-10-2004 06:28 AM

Re:obd0 to obd1 conversion harness excel files

i meant for the obd1 plugs ;)

Re:obd0 to obd1 conversion harness excel files

I don't know.

I hope your ---- is right, I just finished soldering all of it except for the 2 plugs I was missing, I'm going to try to cut out 2 plugs that weren't used and put them where I need plugs, should be fun, hopefully I don't cut my finger off with the razor blade.

Re:obd0 to obd1 conversion harness excel files

im almost done, I used pm5 plugs and p06 plugs, everything cool until now.

I dont understand something, when i cut the obd1 plugs i saw some cables going to other cables on the same plug, like grounding or something like that, on your write up it says something about that too, im I supposed to tap on the wire?

Honda16hb 08-12-2004 12:18 AM

Re:obd0 to obd1 conversion harness excel files

I succesfully cut out the pins I needed: https://www.homemadeturbo.com/forum/...threadid=25366

my harness isn't the prettiest thing in the world, but it will work.

iNetForce 08-12-2004 02:40 AM

Re:obd0 to obd1 conversion harness excel files

soon im going to post a version of this excellent job but with lx, dx obd1 wires, i just finished the harness and there are some colors and wires that are not the same on the obd1 dx,lx plugs.

I know, it's pretty, but no, I won't be pimping it out so you'll have to spend your night with some other conversion harness.

iNetForce 08-22-2004 01:25 PM

Re:obd0 to obd1 conversion harness excel files

there is something wrong with the write up, im supposed to have 4 wires for the o2, on the write up there are only two.

why dont u recheck that? Im just finished mine but im still strunggling with that part.

Honda16hb 08-22-2004 04:14 PM

Re:obd0 to obd1 conversion harness excel files

---- it, just chip your ecu and run uberdata then disable the o2 heater and you will only have to run 1 o2 wire.

iNetForce 08-22-2004 04:16 PM

Re:obd0 to obd1 conversion harness excel files

uhm, thats why i only have one o2 wire, lol!

im going to post a pic of my harness.

which wire would be that? Let me get the pinout number pls.

Re:obd0 to obd1 conversion harness excel files

It's in the code, not the physical hardware.

iNetForce 08-22-2004 05:51 PM

Re:obd0 to obd1 conversion harness excel files

yeah, but remember that right now im obd1, which one would be the wire going to the o2 sensor off the obd1 plugs?

thats my question, i just want to make sure, i need the pinout number.

Re:obd0 to obd1 conversion harness excel files

c14 using the 'top row starting at left is 1,3,5,7 etc' method.

iNetForce 08-23-2004 01:28 AM

Re:obd0 to obd1 conversion harness excel files

cool, c14 is white, thanks a lot.

heh i broke my pin on the C-B plug :-X

ohhh well
guess just cut my ----.
too late did it.

NEXT some one make a Custom Engine HArness HOW TO.!!!

Re:obd0 to obd1 conversion harness excel files

lol, im done with mine do u want it? i can sell it cheap.

crxrx7 09-01-2004 12:11 AM

Re:obd0 to obd1 conversion harness excel files

on the ecu harness that goes to the obd1 ecu I have different colored wires or I am just dumb and cant count. If some one could show a picture of the plugs and how they are numbered that would be great.

iNetForce 09-01-2004 01:21 AM

Re:obd0 to obd1 conversion harness excel files

follow the pinouts, forget about the the colors, he did the write up based on a vtec harness, urs could be a cx, lx, dx, even a vx which is a vtec-e.

88crxSi 09-01-2004 06:19 AM

Re:obd0 to obd1 conversion harness excel files

I mentioned this earlier in the thread. But it's based on a pm6 to a p28 ecu.

Also, i have not personally tested the harness. thats for the ginea (sp) pig kyle to do ;)

crxrx7 09-01-2004 05:31 PM

Re:obd0 to obd1 conversion harness excel files

so then if I have on of those other harnesses there could be different wires and ---- huh? My car is so messed up I think I should start over and put a new dx dash harness back in my car and rewire it with a conversion harness. How many people are selling these. I have a ex harness and a dx ecu if that helps. Let me know I need my car to run in about month and a half. Thanks

Honda16hb 09-04-2004 02:07 AM

Re:obd0 to obd1 conversion harness excel files

as soon as my p06 gets here and I chip it I'll test my ---- out for you. I didn't even look at the colors, I have previous ecu pin counting experience from my b16 swap and a few afc installs so I just went by pin count and everything seems to be alright. ask asaspicer when the hell my ecu is going to be here, he doesn't respond to me. and ask DA-MAX when the ---- my distributor is going to be here, he doesn't respond either.

and it's guinea pig, like the french colonies in south america.

crxxx7, you need the female plugs for obd0 (the ones attached to the ecu) and the male plugs from obd1 (the ones attached to the car that go to the ecu). and since there are dx and ex in both obd0 and obd1 I have no idea what you're talking about.

crxrx7 09-04-2004 02:48 PM

Re:obd0 to obd1 conversion harness excel files

I have a dx crx and I am going to put a new dash harness in it . I need some one to wire up a conversion harness for it. Obd0 to obd1. I have converted it to 91 Si wiring. So that is taken care of. I have the Obd1 male plugs and the obd0 female plugs. If some one can do this for me That would be great

Here's pics I just finished up with help from this thread.

http://xenocron.dnsalias.com:79/harnesses.jpg
http://xenocron.dnsalias.com:79/obd0-1harness.jpg
http://xenocron.dnsalias.com:79/distharness.jpg

I used the Kurts Write-up mostly and help from this EXCEL file. It's a compilation of the earlier posted here, one sheet from a guy on G2IC.com and the distributor part I added.

I'll let you know if she starts up.

The nicest thing about this is that because I made the distributor harness, I can pretty easily swap back and forth between OBD0 and OBD1. I plan on doing a comparison at the track and maybe the dyno. No cutting of plug wires either ;)

good stuff. thats what i was going to do w/ the dist. plug.

Re:obd0 to obd1 conversion harness excel files

The ECU pins for a JDM PR3 Ecu for a CRX B16 swap are as follows:
A8 VTEC Solenoid; B5 VTEC Pressure switch; B19 Knock Sensor; C8 JDM Oxygen Sensor; C16 Oxygen sensor.
Maybe this may help someone :)

4_door_teg 09-21-2004 11:28 AM

Re:obd0 to obd1 conversion harness excel files

Is there a write-up kicking around anywhere for going for a pr3 to a p28?

turbohf 09-21-2004 02:15 PM

Re:obd0 to obd1 conversion harness excel files

how about these writeups: http://www.boosted.org/ecu/

also some questions about other wiring issues:
abvouisly i dont give a ---- about IAB's so dont need that wire
O2 sensor? bah for pussies (turn it off in UD)
knock sensor...dont have one (turn off in UD)
what about the VTEC oil pressure switch? *I DONT HAVE ONE* for whatever reason when i bought my PR3 head the VTEC soliniod didnt have one, like wasnt ever tapped by the factory... is there a way around this?

also another one that has been bothering me... how will i check CEL's? or know there is one? will the CEL on the dash work like a OBD1 car?

thats a good question.. im also wondering about this

Re:obd0 to obd1 conversion harness excel files

I wired a harness in on a kids Teg and his pre-made harness had a wire from the harness that you were suppose to wire to a switch and then ground the switch to get the CEL's

turbohf 09-22-2004 01:38 AM

Re:obd0 to obd1 conversion harness excel files

yeah if you look at the link i posted in the discription on the pin changes it says that you need to ground one with a switch or something to read codes. so i would assume that the CEL in the cluster would function like a OBD1 car at that point...

yes, ground that wire w/ a on/off switch, when that wire is grounded the CEL will flash.

also, for the vtec oil psi, just jump the wires, it will think there's plenty of pressure.

but it would be wise to get a vtec sol that has the pres switch, it's a safetly feature (for the motor). and that motor is going to need all the help it can get with u drivin Dustin :P

turbohf 09-22-2004 12:39 PM

Re:obd0 to obd1 conversion harness excel files

UberData is the ----! check out the ---- i can turn off/on:
VTEC
VTEC under 20mph
VTEC oil pressure check (disable)
VTEC coolant temp check
O2 Sensor (disable)
O2 senosr heater (disable)
knock sensor (disable)
speed limiter
and some other ---- i dont know what they do yet :) im gonna love this. this also means less wiring changes not a fan of wiring bunches of ----. i accually have my oil idoit light still hooked up....and a spare B18A1 block ;) so i should be fine...

Re:obd0 to obd1 conversion harness excel files

Crap I think I have a problem.... on the excel file, it says that the A14 slot on the OBD0 plug needs to be mated with the A8 wire from the OBD1 harness, is it just mine, but my OBD1 A plug doesn't have an A8 slot ???

Re:obd0 to obd1 conversion harness excel files

I've encountered this on one of my two obd-1 ecu clips, both from 92 DXs. It should be a green wire w/ a yellow stripe. there's two of them. 1 @ a7 and a8.

sorry, thats all i know about it though.

Honda16hb 09-28-2004 09:51 PM

Re:obd0 to obd1 conversion harness excel files

murdoc just cut your plugs up like I did, it's the cool thing to do.

which wire needs to be grounded on a switch to read cels? I see all this talk of grounding with switches and I don't see which wire it is.
