Default My datalogging ecu mod (w/pics)

Here's my ttl to rs232 converter mod that I added to my ecu. Bought the parts from a parts store instead of ordering the Max chips and big clunky board.

I used a ST232CN chip, which is supposed to be a 16 pin equivalent to the max232 chip. I soldered the wires and tantalum capacitor to the chip itself, then cut the rest of the pins off the chip and put it in a piece of shrink tubing. There was a resistor in the circuit, but I think it was just to run the LED (which I didn't add). Then I used a hack saw and cut 2 slits in the side of the ecu case and broke a piece of the case off big enough to fit the db9 connector then screwed it in place (ghetto, but it turned out good).

I'm not sure if the setup works for datalogging yet, as I still need a eprom programmer and obd2b-obd1 conversion harness.

Ecucontrol is one, but they don't support p75 yet. I'm not 100% sure what I'm gonna use.

Where did you get the ST232 from? I have two Max chips laying around but i'm sure i'll need more in the future.

Bought them from a local electronics parts supply store here in Canada.

Where in Canada do you live?

I have an eprom burner. Keep us posted on how this turns out, I don't want the hassle of ordering a convertor from MAX

For datalogging, I need a eprom burner, obd2b-obd1 conversion harness and some p75 datalogging rom. I'm running a p28 for my b18b. The guys on pgmfi.org said that there's no datalogging for p75 yet, but one of the script writters said to give him a copy of my rom and he'll try and write something.
