I have had mine through some service pack updates and it was fine. Email Craig.

I've installed the drivers on 4 different machines, all running XP Pro with Service Pack 2.

The drivers are not the issue. They work fine. Not to mention, Craig doesn't write the USB drivers. They're provided by the manufacturer of the chipset.

..and what do you mean, "I know this thing is buggy like this"?

Maybe you don't know how to install them correctly... point them to the specific location where they're extracted. Don't "search" anywhere for them. Geezz..

when i plug it in, the computer doesn't even go through the install process. it says that the device is unknown or damaged. the "search for drivers" part of the install was done on only the folder where the drivers were at. there's nothing else in there.

maybe buggy was the wrong word but it's pretty obvious that there are quite a few people that have installation and programming problems with this device. geezz..

The only person I see having an issue with it is you. No one else has chimed in about having an issue with it, only posts of trying top help you.

As far as your drivers go, find the failed instance of the hardware in Device Manager, then update teh driver from that entry. Don't uninstall it. Update it, and do not search for them. Point them to the folder.

I've never heard of anyone having installation issues. It's a generic driver install. I think it's user error.
