I need to re-register my car (1987 acura integra running dsm 450s and turboEdit), and to do so, I need to do a smog check.
With a quick search, I found out that leaning out the fuel makes my NOx go through the roof (damn), so I need a lil advice on what I need to do so I can pass smog.

Am I just aiming for 14.7 afrs and stock timing? Will chanigng the timing help/hurt my chances of failing the smog test? Does it matter if I am in open or closed loop?

any advice would be helpful.

that's best tunning for to pass smog test!

 

putting it back to stock probably is the best option, but, it would be cool to have a smog tune use. That way I can stay lazy, take 2 mins to burn a new chip, and pass the test.

well, if nobody knows any tips to tune for smog, then going back to stock will have to do.

 

well the visual will kill you. A turbo hanging off an old honda motor is failing right there.

 

Noel's car went right through with his turbo on. Passed all sniff tests. We put his WB in later to find that he is 17.0-16.2 in vacuum......

 

how the hell is that possible? i would like to know. not that i get smogged anyways, just good to know.

 

I didnt do the test. I dont know. It went right through. No cat either. Well the cat thing I took care of but he actually passed all the smog tests on the rollers.

 

usually yes, but I've been to a few places that dont care whats under the hood, they will test you no matter what.
