Default Low vs. High maps (Uberdata)

I was ------ around with a couple bins and stuff and I can't figure out what the big difference in low vs. high maps? I talked to someone who makes "basemaps" for people and he said that he's not sure, but he only uses the low maps and that's all he needs.
So if I want to learn how to tune this jazz I have to figure out what I'm doing. I would think it would have to do with the low throttle and high throttle settings, but now you have two full maps for fuel to tune and two for ignition.

I need tips.

low map is when vtec is not engaged
high map is when vtec has engaged.

raise the vtec point to an rpm higher than your cutoff or disable vtec so you won't hit vtec and tune the lo map. bring the vtec point back down to a point lower than you think you need vtec to kick in and then tune the hi map. the best way to set your vtec point is on a dyno, but 4.5k-5.5k would be a good baseline to start.

Who is this basemap maker? Let's behead him for not knowing the difference between high and low cam maps.

Perfect. I'm gonna be running the dx, so I won't even need it. The basemap maker also told me to start off with the stock gsr bin because I couldn't get the po6 stock to open. But if I just leave the hi map out of it, than I'll be all good. I guess the hi ignition map is for the same thing?

it depends on the version of Uberdata you are using. 1.7 had problems with the stockLS.bin not working, but if you're using a version of UD prior to 1.7 i'd recommend using the LS bin as it is for non-vtec motors. Also I believe there are some scalar differences between the gsr and ls maps.

ps, you're opening either the ls bin or the gsr bin, and then just importing the p06.bin, right? Uberdata can only "open" bins that are based on integra code, and then you can import whatever bin you want into that.

I believe we opened the stock gsr, and then tried to import the po6?
There were two imports listed as 16> and 16< but I didn't know what all that was about.
