throwing any combination of heads and blocks on civic's is common as hell. mini-me's, etc. hell I've put all types of combination of heads and block together to get cars running.

no combination of motor and head other then maybe the 8 valve motor is really going to effect mileage significantly.

You are using the 4speed, what kinda of rpm are you looking at on the 60 or 70mph?

I find myself going into 4th all the time with a ED DX 5 speed tranny. I'm not even at 3500 in 4th.

I'll trade ya...I've got a 14 gallon tank and the best I can do highway driving is 182 miles. The price you pay I guess for horsepower. :P

wait, wouldn't the o2 sensor compensate for that
No It did not on this car. I had close loop enabled and we were seeing 11:1 arfs when the sensor was bad. Its really easy to just go hook it up and check, you should also look at all the other sensors like tps map ect, data logging can be a good tool.

to do 60 im at about 3000. to do 70 im at about 3500/3600.

i put on a b2 cam gear per mista bone instructions and reset the timing again and now im got 60 miles on the car, and looks to be only a gallon and a half or less of gas that ive used.

ill be able to tell better once i go to dearborn later this week on tuesday. all ive been doing is city driving though.

huh, yeah there's gotta be a poing where the o2 isn't able to trim the mixture. I know this for a fact cause I was tuning and had to use the stock ecu with 450's at 22psi and I was running 12's a/f and the o2 was enabled.

I tune without using the o2 so I can tune leaner and not have the 02 interfer. the tps, etc. wouldnt effect it cause I'm always in open loop. I'm curious though, exactly how the iat manipulate fuel though. I'm guessing it has the ability to over ride the fuel maps or adds that equation to the info from the maps. but like in your case where it was so significant the o2 couldn't even trim it.

it's difeatly something to look at if your not using the o2. I'm thinking putting a thermo. on the man. next to the sensor and see if that close in temp?

it manipulates fuel by changing a value in the equation that calculates the fuel. Also I dont know if you know this but once you go past a certain load the close loop is disables from the fuel calculation and just reads off the maps.

I am also a fan of moving the IAT into the charge piping so you are actually measuring the air and not the manifold temp.

yeah, I'm aware of computer just using the maps at a load or throttle position.
I wasn't talking about moving the iat I meant testing it in its current position. though putting it in the intake probably make it way more accurate. hummmm.

It is also common for those engines to be riddled with issues and never run correctly. Like I said, just because it bolts together doesn't mean it works well together. You throw parts from 5 different engines and expect them to all work together, you are asking a lot. It sounds a lot like an issue of hacked up wiring or a hacked up engine build. Sometimes its worth spending an extra $100 to get the RIGHT parts for the job rather than the ones you think can work.
