I really think you'll have a problem getting all the noobs to sign on at one time
I really don't think you understand the simplicity of this. Once everything is setup, it will just be a matter of pointing the browser to a website and logging in. If people can get here to post, they can surely handle that

While I do think the write ups would be of great value, there is nothing like doing it first hand and being able to ask questions to someone with experience.

I have done a basic writeup in a post and eventually faded.

Write-ups are great, dont get me wrong but Jason is getting bombarded daily with random noobs questions by people who dont know where to look for info or are just too lazy.

My goal is to say, "great questions...log on to xxx.xxxxxx.com on Sunday @ X pm and we will have a live question and answer session with a demo of actually using the software. Ask any question and listen to others.

I also have 802.11 in my apt so I could literally be doing this in my car (as it idles).

I hope that spending one hour per week at a set time will speed up the learning curve for users and save me, J. Parker and Dave (blundar), and other getting questions hours of teaching time per week.

It hopefully be a good place to share technique and tunes as well. Forums are great, for archiving and preserving good info...you can't beat live info sessions for getting the answers to your burning questions straight from the source.

Thanks for all the help and suggestions guys!

Not quite. Once Chris has the server setup on his computer and configured properly, it will run an http daemon. It's similar to the configuration screen of a router or cable modem. It's kind of like a mini web server. When you connect to his "web server" the program itself handles the screen prints and sends them from him to you and everyone else. There isn't any chat, but we can all join an AIM chat room or something of that nature. This way, we can ask questions and see exactly what Chris sees on his computer while he is doing it.

Well PureCRXtasy helped me get the server up and running and we tested it to about 5 or so connections until it got slow. He is going to work on a way to make it faster but this looks VERY promising!

Keep checking here for updates...this isnt too far away!

Chris

I hear ya' nothing like jumping on HMT while idling in the parking lot.
If this does get set up, you can count me in. As long as I can plan on the date/time, Ill be there.

Ok, I found a program on sourceforge that is a VNC reflector. It is designed to handle multiple client connections. What we need is a fast server on a dedicated T1+ line to test this on.

Here is the program info: SF VNC Reflector

VNC? No sorry. VNC is a remote 'control' software, which I often used while still in the computer field whenever clients would give us a call. I'm not really wanting to toy around with a program such as that.

What is the goal here? To create a room where a multiple amount of people can -chat- right? A simple PHP scripting utilizing streaming flash will accomplish this with far less intrusive possibilities.
