Default Ignition timing & BTM...

I'm running now 7psi.. and have no detonations with stock timing.

However, I plan now to buy MSD BTM p/n: 5462 (that's the right one, right?) just to be on the safe side (still cold.. but when summer comes, temps go up aswell..).

But.. what I'm wondering.. could I with BTM advance my stock timing, and than ust BTM to retard at boost (to gain even more power in lower band and whilst not in boost?)
What do u guys think about that?

buy it, ,hook it up, and leave it at 0 for now, if u here some pinging, go .25, still here pinging then .5, then .75 to 1 per psi

Well, I'm almost positive I'm gonna buy it.. to be on safe side.
Although now even with creep upto 8psi I hear no pinging at all... but feeling kinda paranoid about it nonetheless...

its good insurance. hook it up, and if u start to here pinging its as easy as adding more fuel or just add some retard via the btm

Yes. However, you same rules apply for vacuum that apply for NA. Since a BTM only start modifying spark during positive manifold pressure, you'll need to listen close (hopefully you have a knock sensor) and retard at the distributor if you hear pinging during vacuum.

I know that .. but I use FMU, so I have much less chance to ping in vacuum (no advance that AFC causes).
