I was thinking of instead of hacking up my stock wiring for a gauge cluster conversion ( I got the stock 89 standard hatch one with no tach). To find the female connectors to plug into the stock cluster wiring and make a sub harness. Does anyone know what type of plugs honda uses so I can order them from digikey or allied electronics. Thanks and havent posted since the 80s.

 

wouldn't it be easier just to desolder an old cluster and pin it?

 

That way you dont have to hack your stock harness. Also I was thinking of making a autometer gauge cluster and having it so you can just plug it in with your stock harness.

 

exactly no need to touch the underdash harness......just the clsuter plug from a dead unit, like a DX or STD

 

Hacking the old one sounds easiest. The OEM connectors are hard to come by.

I know the ECU plugs can be gotten if you will sink some serious cash into em. I am sure the same applies to all the connectors.

 

+1...its not like you have some super rare car that you couldn't source another harness from in the future if you mess it up. If ur worried about putting the car back to stock I would source one from the junk yard. You might be making it more of a project than it needs to be
