ford EEC IV stuff
okay, there is chip kits that plug into the diagnostic ports of the EEC IV (1987-1992 i think) fords EFI system, does anyone happen to know if it's possible to tune/do a safc hack of sorts by this port? all i want to do is run like, a 16:1 afr, tough time destroying 140hp amongst 6 cast iron cyls..

Moates.net has a J3 adapter for EEC-IV, it basically gives you a socket you can land a chip in. Whether or not your ECU is understood enough to do a basic data table hack like you're wanting to do is up in the air.
FWIW, if you have a good O2 sensor and the tune up components are in good shape, you aren't going to pick up a whole lot of mpg leaning to 16:1 - I only did that for my car because tunes are free and O2 sensors cost money. You need a certain amount of fuel to support X amount of power required to cruise along, and 16:1 just means you have your throttle is open more so you get that amount of fuel.
If you want to get into EFI tuning, sounds like a great start... work your way into a 5.0 with an A9L and a big turbo.

F150 with 300-6?
Rich/stumble idle can be a number of things. Check your grounds, those flat braided steel strips that come from the OEM die after a decade, and cause that. Jumper cable block to chassis and block to battery ground, see if that doesn't make a noticeable change - I learned that trick on an 87 F150 Bronco w/ 302, you know.

Uh, ------- fix it?
Dude, what causes you to flood at idle? FPR stuck so the FP is elevated? Vaccum leak to the MAP so that the ECU thinks there is more load on the engine and so it shoots in more fuel althouh it isn't needed? Etcetera etcetera?
