Default Datalogging connection problem (P28 ECU)

I just picked up and installed the latest pre-release version of eCtune. I have an ostrich 2.0 and a hulog. I can't seem to get the hulog to connect for datalogging.
I have installed the drivers from moates.net and set the comm ports for the two devices as com3 and com4. The driver version displayed for both devices is 1.0.2154.0 which is the one from moates. The ostrich connects perfectly and I am able to upload my basemap to the ecu.
When I attempt to connect the hulog I get the error message "unable to connect to ECU". I have tried adjusting the baud rate and using a different comm port but it will not connect. The ecu is a P28 and J12 is cut. The hulog is connected to pins 1-4 on CN2 with the connector tab facing inward. The car is on when I'm attempting to connect.
I tried starting this thread on the eCtune forum but I get an error message and it won't post. I'm beginning to think the solder job on CN2 might be the problem so I'll try to put up a picture for a second opinion.
Any help would be appreciated.

What are the wire colors as you have it plugged into the ECU?

Have you tried the plug in both directions?

It's one of the newer Hulogs with 4 wires. The way it is now, going from 1-4 is orange, red, pink, black. I tried plugging it in the opposite direction and it gave me the same response. Thanks for the quick reply

Yea, I like to call that selective reading on my part, my bad :1.
