Default D16Z6 tuners with an VAFC... HELP!!!!!!

hey guys, i need your help. I just finished turboing my 94 civic Ex with the d16z6 motor and am using a VAFC to tune it. What are you guys doing for your correction on your afc as well as your timing?? I'm currently running 3-4 psi due to boost leak and Wastegate issues but once they are fixed I'm just going to be running 10psi with DSM 450cc injectors. I'm just using the stock fuel pump and other than the AFC and 450's that's it, along with the new High-Tech Distributor twisting! what are you guys running for fuel/ign. for a 'safe/conservative' tune, but with reasonable pick up? thanks again. I'm in teh process of going Uber. but aint there yet, so i gotta AFC it

good, someone who is in the exact same boat as me. I have an00 ex, d16y8, tuner toys 450's, stock fuel pump, and the infamous AFC hack as well, and would also like to get around 7-10Psi eventually.

Right now i'm boosting about 4-5, i have the correction factor staggered so it's stoich/lean at idle and then gets very rich as rpm's increase. I believe my upper rpm correction is around -39 and get as lean as -41 or -42 around idle, which i think needs to go more. The timing question has me puzzled as well because i've heard all this stuff about the VAFC advancing it, and i was wondering how you overcome that without a BTM or something similar. Any ideas on how lean i can get around idle to make it start/idle better when it's hot?

JDMfantasy - ummmm, you don't want to be lean at idle, you don't want to be lean ever. The only way to tune is to use a wideband, if you are tuning using your narrowband (which it sounds like you are) you could be ------- up your car and not even knowing it. When you say it goes rich as RPM's increase, for all you know you are running 13.9:1 under boost.

shanerv - Dr. boost told me to start at 35 all the way across and wideband it from there. As for ignition, sorry I can't help you there.

yikes, i don't think my car will even run at 35 cause it's so rich. I'm going on the theory that under full throttle at -37 my narrowband is near pegged on rich. And the fact that when i start the car i can smell the gas to the point where my eyes water up sometime. Hmm dyno tune needed....

Lean at light loads and idle is fine...in boost and higher load areas is where you start to become concerned.

I was cruising around the other day at 65mph, about 16.3 on the wideband getting REALLY nice gas mileage
