well, every setup is differant, every motor is of a differant condition, and there are differant climates etc all over the US and canada, so a basemap is nothing more than a way of getting a car running in order to tune. theres no way to know if it will be very safe, or not safe at all. some people will make them very safe which is good if you are going straight to a tuner, and some will try to get it close to perfect by guessing, which can lead to problems. a basemap should never be used to run a car w/out the understanding that its not meant to run the car efficiently or for any period of time.

well, if you have no experience, and dont know how to read maps, and know proper a/f ratios, and timing curves, its not a great idea to do it yourself w/ out someone watching over you to make sure you dont kill it on the first pull.

nah man, good luck as in "good luck" hope nothing goes wrong, and it all works out. not a "good luck" as in it will never happen.
