What engine? What Octane fuel?

You know better Donald...

I was running nearly 20-22 degrees @ 13psi on my B18a and never heard any pinging. Although, that could be because when my wastegate was open I couldnt hear dick.

LOL

D16Z6 9.0:1 srp piston, T3/04e .48ex/.60IN 0 trim.

i`ve ran it like this for almost 3 month but recently Heard a little knocking noise from the engine bay, i am not sure if it is from the motor but it usually happen when i load it at a lower rpm before the needle hits 0 vaccume. it happens kinda quick and the noise would be gone once it start to build pressure.
now i don`t really think it has anything to do with boost coz it`s not even reaching postive pressure yet. and it ran fine all the way to 8500 without any problem.

i tried different gas stations and use octane booster, it helped a little but didn`t completly get rid of it.

well, your timing at 16 psi, doesn't really have anything to do with detonation at a lower psi have you messed with the timing maps in vacuum? even so, i wouldn't worry so much about a little detonation in vacuum if that's even what you're hearing. 19° seems a bit much timing, that's only about -.55° per psi, for about 12-15 psi, i usually pull about -.75°

yea that`s what i thought. since it`s not lasting for too longm only like a second or so.

a while a ago i kept on hearing the same noise, turns out it is the block cover hitting the timing belt.

I have never had a problem with detonation. I was running 19 degrees total timing and I ended up blowing a headgasket running 12psi, but it would spike to 14-15psi everytime I hit full boost (shitty internal WG). I am running 17 degrees of timing now, but I haven't turned the boost back up yet to find out if that helped. D-series motors don't like a lot of timing and I know of two 500+ whp d16z6 motors (TurbodCX and ZEX Man) and they are only running 12 degrees of timing. pat, all i saw in that thread was talking about torqueing head studs the only mention of timing i saw was where the guy said he was running 17.5° at 15 psi and pushing coolant? i don't think those guys running 12° timining making 500whp at i'm sure 20+ psi are on pump gas

Id personally start the car out at about 16-18* on the top end in boost until you got a chance to get it on a dyno to see what it likes.
Could you put up your bin or a screen shot of your timing maps maybe.

Fine... here a thread with more info on timing and I read through this one and a few people mentioned pump gas... http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=440094
