DALLAS — A proposed solution to a lack of communication between English-speaking school principals and Spanish-speaking parents has a lot of people talking in Texas.
Some Hispanic Dallas moms say they're often in the dark about how their children are performing in school because they don't know English, and the principal doesn't know Spanish. A new proposal before the school board would force principals to learn the native language of the majority of students — for 43 percent of pupils at Dallas schools that language is Spanish.

No kidding. I'm ------- sick of accidentally pressing the "en espanol" button on the ATM machine and spending 10 minutes trying to get my card back. And I'm in Maryland, I can't imagine how much more it sucks in Texas... Learn the language or get the ---- out.
where changing our ways for them... whats next?

nobody's going to change anyone's mind on these stupid matters. ya'll should just keep it off hmt because it's annoying to look at you kids bicker at each other.
and i'm sorry, but ESL classes at schools suck dick. lol how else are they supposed to learn it if not in school. and if they can't bother to throw in a translator during the meeting between principal and parent, then this is not the great america everyone claims it to be.
