DALLAS — A proposed solution to a lack of communication between English-speaking school principals and Spanish-speaking parents has a lot of people talking in Texas.

Some Hispanic Dallas moms say they're often in the dark about how their children are performing in school because they don't know English, and the principal doesn't know Spanish. A new proposal before the school board would force principals to learn the native language of the majority of students — for 43 percent of pupils at Dallas schools that language is Spanish.

Argh. We need to get a law that says English is to be the primary language, to be used in all schools, businesses, and the like. You come to America.. learn English. Not a hard concept. ::)

No kidding. I'm ------- sick of accidentally pressing the "en espanol" button on the ATM machine and spending 10 minutes trying to get my card back. And I'm in Maryland, I can't imagine how much more it sucks in Texas... Learn the language or get the ---- out.

and if they dont wanna learn the language then dont ------ complain when you can't figure ---- out... ??? where changing our ways for them... whats next?

amen. i live in az and i worked for two masonry companys and i had to learn at least the small words to even be able to work with the guys and only one of them even tried to learn our language and worked with me to teach me a little spanish and him alittle english. it is really annoying when your trying to work with them and they have no ------ clue what your saying and vice a versa. it makes ---- hard and its like that just about everywhere out here. oh yeah and im also half mexican.

no dan...i think this thread is just as shitty as all the others started by steve or julio or whoever.

nobody's going to change anyone's mind on these stupid matters. ya'll should just keep it off hmt because it's annoying to look at you kids bicker at each other. ::)

and i'm sorry, but ESL classes at schools suck dick. lol how else are they supposed to learn it if not in school. and if they can't bother to throw in a translator during the meeting between principal and parent, then this is not the great america everyone claims it to be.

whatever. i'm not getting into to this rediculous thread. :-\

waste of time. i'm sorry i even opened it in the first place.
