Alot of cars broke the 276hp barrier along time ago the skyline, 300zx, rx7 spirit r, etc... They just wern't advertised above 276. Like I said Skylines off the show room floor have dynoed more to the wheels.

Making HP of RPM is mastery for me and shows how tech is avanced.
200HP of a stock N/A 2L displacement engine is mastery (EDM CTR).
How much HP you can make of common 5L engine that can be found in early 90's Mustangs assuming you stay stock internals?
How will be the power/displacement ratio? Can you do as good as average D series Honda (worst Honda engine)?
Can you make 100HP/1000ccm? That would give you 500hp+, and all for the same moneay as for D-series.

or better yet, i could p port a rotary engine and get 1.3 liters to push 300 whp. stfu noob. its all about how an engine is designed. most car manufacturers simply take proven ideas and stick them in car, while others are constantly innovative.

Damn I'm sick of these arguments.

No ---- there are a lot faster dumbestic cars then imports. The bigger the engine, the more power, right? That's something we can all agree with. I'd just rather spend 6 grand total, and make my Integra run 12s than buy an LS1 Camaro for 12k and run 13's.

Seems like all of you either like imports and domestics, and not both.

Myself, I love the classic cars more than anything, but I still love Honda's, nissan's, toyota's, etc... I don't get why you can't like a car just because of where it was manufactured.

The nissan skyline has produced well over 276 AWHP on a dyno, right off the showroom floor.

Car and Driver January 2005
"Since 1989, Japanese automakers have all endorsed—at least on paper—a kind of gentlemen's agreement that limited their advertised horsepower to 276 on domestically produced vehicles. Their primary goal was to avoid a horsepower war in a country where the maximum speed limit is 62 mph. But in October, Honda officially broke the agreement at its Legend (Acura RL in the U.S.) press conference when it unveiled the model's 300-hp, 3.5-liter V-6.

For years, it's been presumed that once an automaker stuck out its neck and ignored the 276-hp mark, the rest would quickly follow. And judging by what's in the Japanese production pipeline, it looks as if the conventional wisdom was correct. Coming on the heels of that new Acura RL will be the Lexus RX400h with an estimated 300 horsepower, and then the flood gates open—Mazda will introduce a 300-hp two-seat RX-7, Acura will again cross the line with a new NSX with at least 400 horses, and Toyota will mark its territory with the supercar on page 36.

Japanese engine designers, however, will readily concede that the country's manufacturers have been building cars with more than 276 horsepower. It's just that none of the automakers wanted to officially break the agreement. It's no secret that Mitsubishi Lancer Evos, Subaru Impreza WRXs, and Nissan 300ZX twin-turbos have been in violation of the agreement for years, but at least in Japan, they all claimed to have 276 horsepower. The false advertising was ignored for the sake of harmony. Not anymore."

good info!

tomorrow ill say to them why japanese cars havent more than 300+ whp , thought i dunno if to waste my time to talk with them about this..

jap cars are always going to be lower hp and much lower tq. the motors are smaller a v8 will always dominate on the tq end. but the pluss side of all imports is there weight. there power to weight ratio is better. that is why a first gen crx with a stock motor with 120 hp can run mid 13s with a small shot of nitrus and whoop the ---- out of lots of stock motor domestics with nitrus, and even some with built motors running nitrus, s/c, and boosted. i watch alot of track times and a magority of domestics, all domestics with mild builds run mid to high 13s and up to around 15s. now im not saying all domestics are not extreamly fast if they are built rite they can make lots of power. its just usualy cheeper to buy, build, drive, and own a jap car. but somone who is happy with domestics rite on u build what ever makes u happy.
