Re: BBKA, your car getting stolen gave me this idea.. a transponder kill switch
The problem with fancy keys and chips and ---- is that it's usually only a break in the wire and the key/chip makes the connection. Common sense would allow you to realize that cutting the wires around the chip and re-connecting them is all it takes. That's why the hidden factor is more important IMO.
I slightly looked into GPS stuff, but they're all expensive as ***. I'd like one that is cheap, small, and uses more than the cars battery to power itself. No monthly service charges, just install, and forget about it. Charge me when I need you to find my car, that's fine. Ok, so which system am I describing?

Not quite cheap ($290) but you can track the thing even on your cell phone.
I like how it comes up with where it is on your cell phone.
"Alert! Civic has left, Civic is at 112 North Main Street."
I think it'd work nice

you know what? i went to the site and that is actually a pretty damn good idea . you could even take the colar and place it in a suspected cheating girlfriends car to see where she goes .
the batterys have to be charged so it would be a goood idea to keep it somewhere that doesn't need to be ripped apart to get to. maybe just take it off the buckle and put it on a clip type thing and just clip it to the bottom of the car or seats.
now you got me thinking
great post

Companies like Clifford already have wireless transponder immobilizer kits. I mean, it was a good idea, but you did not reinvent the wheel or anything. The bad part with that card would be that I could see it becoming a real pain in the *** to retrieve from you wallet or whatever and eventually, it would end up laying in your center console or something. I think the keychain piece would be a better bet, like the other companies do it Good to see that people are thinking though.

They have GPS/Cell connected version made specifically for cars. My friend has it on his RSX. I think it was 800 installed from the dealer. Dunno what it's called though...
