a converted p06/p05 will activate vtec, but it will have to be chipped to work properly, so technically, it wouldn't be a stock ecu like you're looking for, so if you plan on keeping the car stock, i would reccomend a stock usdm p28 or jdm p08, whichever you can find cheapest. jdmshit.com has the cheapes obd2 - obd1 harness' on the net that i've ever seen.

I dont care about keeping it stock, i didnt know i could use a chipped ECU, this is all new to me 
so if a chipped p06 will work perfectly fine and activate vtec, im def interested
