Does it grind all the time or only in high rpm?

what previous owner told me "if you granny shift it doesnt grind, but if your dogging it it grinds" it came with my car, but i havent got a new motor in it to try it out

What do you want for it? I might be able to deal with a little grinding. :-\ Maybe the open downpipe will cover the grinding noise. :-X
