38mm wastegate fire ring

So i misplaced the fire ring for my wastegate somewhere. The O0 on ebay don't want to sell them individually. This is holding me back from boost. anyone have one? pleeeeeeeeeeeeeez?

Sounds slightly gay.

The old school SSAC/XS Power Tial 38mm knock offs use the same fire ring as the TiAL 38mm. The new "big hat" TiAL 38mm knockoffs I've seen recently use a slightly different fire ring. Buyer beware.

wow

enikolayev 08-10-2008 08:06 PM

Re: 38mm wastegate fire ring

100% no gayness guaranteed. I bought that fire ring yesterday, i am hoping with my fingers crossed that its the same. The knock off WG i have is pretty old, so i have hope.

Re: 38mm wastegate fire ring

I saw my first "big hat" three weeks ago, so it's a pretty new thing.

well, thats my ride. single cam D16Y8 completely stock. And the best i ran was 16.1, that 16.3 is deceiving (don't mind my finger). I have a built D16Y8 with Vitara pistons and H-beam rods sitting on an engine stand, almost ready to drop in. I just need to finish my oil drain. Fittings for the Garett T25 are a pain to find. Why T25? it will let me keep my a/c while its still hot.

vadimkaG 08-12-2008 03:21 AM

Re: 38mm wastegate fire ring

Well its a hatch....Looks cool. If you use a biger turbo you could go easy 20psi and up with vitara pistons. Any way keep as posted

Re: 38mm wastegate fire ring

Once it gets cooler, i'm throwing on a china t3/t4 and upping the boost to 20. It should be good.

Whoa, you broke deep into the 16s.

Thats cool, Chinesse turbos aren't that bad, I had one for a year on my LS engine then I sold it to my friend, he put it in his sonc, now he has it for couple month, no problem at all, spools very good.

enikolayev 08-12-2008 03:20 PM

Re: 38mm wastegate fire ring

Do i sense sarcasm in JD's post?

And some of those china turbos are indeed very good. My brother has one that was used on 3 turbo setups already, works perfectly. I'll just take his when winter comes around. But lets say i wanted a genuine turbo to support 20 psi on a Y8? What should i be looking for?

vadimkaG 08-12-2008 03:33 PM

Re: 38mm wastegate fire ring

I would say T3 57 trim or P trim, those are hard to find in garrett for cheep, but china one shoud be easy...
Check what people says about my garrett turbo...its redicules... :7

enikolayev 08-12-2008 03:39 PM

Re: 38mm wastegate fire ring

I'll look into it, but cold weather is still a couple months away, so no big turbo for me yet. But i could care less about people bashing china turbos. From my experience, they work perfectly fine.

Good china turbos, and building a Y8 for boost. What would I have to be sarcastic about?

Re: 38mm wastegate fire ring

It is just alien for me to not have heard a negative comment yet. So i'm assuming it is a negative comment beautifully masked in sarcasm. I guess i'm too cautious.

Time will tell, as hindsight is 20/20. ;)

Re: 38mm wastegate fire ring

clever, very clever. I'll leave it all up to time.

So i think i'll start pulling out my engine today. and dropping in the built D. i'll post pics if i do. The deciding factor is if my bro comes back from work with a fitting for my oil drain.

Re: 38mm wastegate fire ring

that would be cool... :6
