We have 10! - SMT-6 Group Buy - Post your desired buy date!

That's right! Tuner Toys is becoming a dealer for the Perfect Power SMT-6 Controller, and our first move is to provide you guys with an excellent group buy on the SMT-6!

The target price for this group buy is
$290This is the lowest price we have seen anywhere for the SMT-6!

We searched long and hard for an Engine Management product that could provide the greatest value for the least amount of money. We think the SMT-6 provides that value, so we chose to become an authorized dealer.

When turbocharging, the basic home made turbo setup must have increased fuel levels and ignition retard capabilities. There are many ways to achieve these capabilities, some good, others bad.

For increased fuel, we find the function and performance of an FMU to be completely unacceptable. The transition from vacuum to boost is very problematic. Many people have had problems with FMUs, and we do not reccommend them to anyone! A much better solution is to use larger injectors with a piggyback controller. This allows you to actively control and tune the injectors to get the best performance and reliability from your turbocharged vehicle. Currently, the cheapest piggyback solution we have found for controlling larger injectors, is around $120 - $150 plus shipping. This unit intercepts the map signal and alters it based on RPM-dependant correction factors.

The above piggyback unit gets you only halfway there, you'll also need a separate unit for ignition retard. Most of the turbo setups we have experienced use the MSD Boost Timing Master (BTM) to achieve ignition retard. The BTM allows you to set ignition retard based on boost levels. One of these will cost you $165 plus shipping.

Used together, these two units are the cheapest way we have found to get control of your fuel and ignition. Including shipping, you can expect to pay well over $300 for them. They are however, a very simple and limited solution. There are no interactive controls or interfaces. No Logging, No VTEC control, No Wideband, No Maps, ...you get the idea.

For that same $300, you can get all those things mentioned above, and a whole lot more! The SMT-6 also offers...
  • Fuel, Ignition, and Injection maps, each with 128 sites!
  • Tuning capability for any engine
  • Tune using your PC
  • Monitor and tune AFR (Lambda)
  • VTEC Activation based on RPM/Airflow/Analogue Defection/Temp
  • Proportional Nitrous Control saves engine and money!
  • Multiple maps, switchable while driving

Check out all this little unit can do at the Perfect Power website...http://www.perfectpower.com/products/smt6.asp

We only need ten folks to participate in the group buy to qualify for the $290 price break. Ten is the minimum, there is no maximum number of participants. The first ten units will be shipped as soon as the first ten folks have made payment arrangements. Subsequent orders will be processed in groups of five. We expect to keep the group buy open into the first week or two of January, but will certainly close before the last week of January.

We'll keep all participants posted, and answer all emails and questions. Feel free to post or PM here at HMT, or send us an email at sales@tunertoys.com.

As is always the case with our sales campaigns on HMT, we'll be donating a portion of the proceeds to the support of HMT, and if participation is high enough, we'll donate a complete SMT-6 setup to HMT's next project car.

Thanks guys! Let me know if we missed anything!

I'm mildly interested. I wish I could find more experience-based information about this product. I've searched numerous boards and have come up with little info.

Wrote a quick email to "donalson", who previously put together a group buy for the SMT-6 here on HMT. I asked him to reply with the good and the bad experiences the guys had from that group buy about the SMT-6.

I'll pass along his response, and hopefully get some of the buyers from that GB to make a few comments here...

There is also the PerfectPower forums... http://www.perfectpowerforum.tk/ They have a pretty active board, with several moderators who really get into the technicals of the SMT-6. Check out some of the threads there to get a feeling of customer feedback on the units.

Here is a link to the installation manual, gives you a pretty good idea of how things work, and how to calibrate the unit. http://www.perfectpower.com/Download...on%20Guide.pdf

I am very interested. I will be getting some money for Christmas and this would be perfect. I would like to know if the comm cable is included with this. Can I get a pic of everything that is included? Is this $290 shipped? Thanks.

Re:SMT-6 Group Buy from Tuner Toys! $290!

I have passed the Advanced vs. Pro question on up to our distributor, and I will post his response here once we receive it.

These do include the communication cable for your laptop, and the SMT6s will not be limited in any way. You will have access to all the settable parameters a professional tuner would have.

Thanks from Craig!
