Oh man, there was soooo much controversy over that turbo in the DSM world. Those guys made like 2,000,000 of those knock off EVO3 GT 16G's and at first tried to market them as the real thing. After people got them and bolted them on and they started blowing up after a week or so there was a major outcry and they almost went out of business. Then they stuck "GT" in the name to distinguish their pieces of ---- from the real NHI E316G. SlowboyRacing.com did a huge test on them and it was proven that they are a great copy of an E316G, but the metal used in their contruction is crap. Also, the most important parts internally were skimped on and that's why they get shaft play and the comp wheel hits the sides of the housing and destroys itself after only a few days or weeks of running the turbo.
There are extensive threads on DSM sites about people who have bought these turbos and how they've gone out on them asap. I won't lie, the Ching Chang Meow company markets them very well. They come from China already ported with a bigger flapper, and adjustable wastegate actuator arm, but even with all that they didn't upgrade the most important part, which is the internals. The skimped on the materials so they could make more profit and have a lower overhead and in turn their product's quality suffered. Whomever buys that turbo will be sorry. It's already used, so I wouldn't be surprised if it's not already blown or partially blown. For how much he wants for it you can get a genuine MHI big or EVO 16g anyway.
MHI 16g's are made to go 100k+ miles at 17psi on the EVO III's and have proven themselves over and over again. To me the choice is a no brainer. I was offered a brand new EVO3 GT 16G just like this one for $90 and I said ---- no lol. China turbos are all ----. There is no R&D, just copying and they use the cheapest materials possible, and pump them out on assembly lines. Think about it: GOOD THINGS AREN'T CHEAP, AND CHEAP THINGS AREN'T GOOD. Bottom ------- line right thurr.
