FEATURES & BENEFITS OF THE SMT6
All piggyback units are reliant on the exiting ECU to provide the fuel and ignition to the engine. For this reason they are bound by the limitations of the existing ECU. Fuel is typically modified by changing the load sensor or lambda sensor signal. Ignition is done by delaying or advancing the crank angle sensors signal. The piggyback unit tricks the ECU into thinking that it is running under different conditions thereby allowing for a different output.
The SMT6, like its predecessor, has the ability to drive an extra injector which will allow more fuel to be added into the engine typically for turbo
applications.

Prices are as follows
For 9 units or less $375 each
10-15 units $345 each
16 and more $315 each

These prices will include EVERYTHING you need to hook this up to your car, the SMT 6 unit, wire-harness, COM cable (connects from the unit to your laptop) and the CD with the manual for tuning, installation guide, and tuning software (for both DOS and Win95 OS). Price also includes shipping to your door in the continental US, shipping may be a tad higher for you guys in Alaska, Hawaii, and Canada (I doubt more then an additional $5) This is a great price as buying a single unit will cost more then $450 after
shipping and everything... but do take into consideration though that you will still need a laptop to program this thing, almost any laptop will do though as the programming software is available in both DOS and WIN95 format, ebay has a ton of slow Pentium computers that would do the job with ease for under $100, if you don't mind dos you could use a 486 computer
even.

you won't need an inital map as the unit is a piggy back... it'll use the stock ecu's default map settings untill you start tweaking the maps.

what kind of car/motor do you have? i'll have the guy look up for the diagram... and prob have him send it to me so i can send it over to you.

I figured the map part out after reading the article on the site ;D

It is a 99 Neon DOHC - I saw a listing on the site for a 98 neon, it is the same thing.

Stan... i talked to the guy whos giving us the GB... here is what we did (cut and pasted from an aim convo)

aRRacaBACAS: a little less expensive.... but doesnt allowy you to change the rev limit

Claudio RX-7 is the guy i'm going though for the GB... he's also the guy that does the message board for perfect power, he's been doing this engine managment thing for 5 years, he started out w/ haltech stuff and has expanded a good bit... he's a pretty neat guy, knows more crap about EMS's then i ever even hope to know... you can hit him up on aim at aRRacaBACAS... let him know you got the SN from me... he'll answer any questions you have... ultamately it's my butt on the line if he doesn't come though... but i'm not even woried about that.... he's talking to me at the moment about becoming a dealer for these things... man it's tempting, we'll see what happens after i get it and play w/ it :)

aha Claudio..I don't know the guy, but I've stumbled into his site a few times. He seemed to know a lot.
I've researched a lot about the SMT piggy back a friend of mine has the SMT-5. Seems to work great.

They also have a few standalone systems.. :)

well, i found out that there isnt an aux input for wideband logging but you can count me in on the group buy.

we now have 13 people in, need 3 more... bug your friends... $315 and it controls ignition... and extra injectors... the extra injector control costs more then that if you just by the haltech or SDS unit EIC alone

I just found out an intresting addition to the kit that i didn't know about... each unit comes w/ a harness bypass plug... because you splice between the map/afm/maf and the ignition signal if you remove the SMT the car won't start... the ECU won't recive any air flow signal or ignition signals.

to get around this you simply plug in this thing and it shorts the 2 spliced wires so you could drive w/ out the SMT and not have to remove the harness and hook the wires back together.


I also asked Claudio (the guy that runs tuningtechnology.com) about spare wire harnesses for the smt6... for the GB he'll toss one in for an additional $30 this would allow you to wire up an additional car and allow you to swap the SMT6 from car to car... w/ the bypass conector you could drive one in 100% stock ecu form and drive the other w/ the SMT... granted this isn't going to work if you've done major mods or boosted your car (obvious risk of the engine going boom) but for mildly tuned cars that would run (just not run great) w/ the stock stuff this would be a neat way to go.

he also will toss in an additional bypass conector for $15

i'm picking up a spare harness myself so i can play w/ this on other cars

i've had a number of people asking when this is going to end, and request that i hold out till the 1st of the month due to money situations and such... so after talking to Claudio we're putting the cut-off date at the 1st of the month.

what rpm points is this adjustable at?, how far negative can it go like for large injectors....i cant seem to download the wiring diagram for a 96 civic cx either, it wasnt a link or anything

they don't post the wiring diagrams... something about keepign the customer coming back to the dealer (who will provide them free) it just saves some of PP's investment... the proper diagrams will be included w/ the GB unit though.

they do have a smple install on a bmw318 though... gives you an idea of how easy it should be.

the neg settings was another one of the questions that got lost w/ a few other posts (one i answered to you)... the injectors can be set to 255+/- settings

for map points... it's got 16x8 points... so 128 points... here is a link of screenshots of the tunning software http://www.tuningtechnology.com/productsppsshots.html it's the top 4... 1st set is obviously the dos version later is the win95 type.

by 255 +/- you mean 255 different settings, but how far percent-wise does that amount to, im just reassuring myself this thing is gonna work for me with 450s and boost...looking at those tables, why does the fuel map only have oddly spaced percents at the bottom, you can set any percent basically right?...excuse all the retard questions, im just really interested but my car runs decent now and i dont want to ---- it up too much

haha i think that was another part of the msg that got lost doh.

the signal is 5v (the map signal)... so you adjust it in 255+/- incraments of that 5v to cut, lenghten the ecu's signal to the injectors... claudio has played w/ a civic w/ a t3/t4, injectors where over 2x the size of stock, runnin about 10psi on stock bottom end i belive he said... he had every single one of the numbers in the - to compensate for controling injectors 2x as big as stock... he said it ran very well and hella fast.

i'd realy sugest for those seriously looking at this or just on the fence of deciding head over to http://www.perfectpower.com/ and DL the tunning software... unfortanly it's limited to what you can do when there is no unit attached but you can see how in debth it is to work w/.

I’m posting a “last call” if you want in on this deal you’ve got till the October 1st to let me know…

I just emailed all the people that have let me know they want in for sure if you didn’t get an email I don’t have your info… don’t miss out on this deal… $315 for an SMT6 is a great deal.
