I completely agree, however this has nothing to do with the value of his guages. I can buy a super awesome and reliable ching chong turbo on ebay for $150, that doesn't mean a gt35R is worth $150

Hardly. I had a $16 boost gauge and it was jerky as hell, it would jump from one reading to another so you couldn't be very accurate. A quality boost gauge has a smooth transition wherever it moves to. That's just one example. There's a reason these gauges cost more than what you can afford.
