There's a picture of the flapper hole in his for sale ad. Did he really have to tell you that it was cracked? 9 out of 10 used 14b's will have that crack that goes through the flapper hole and then up into the inlet. It's a "design flaw" from Mitsu, or so it's said, but to me it only makes sense that after 15 years of use a turbo shows some wear. 14b's are old ******* dude and are never perfect if they're used.

If the cracks aren't too big (i.e. you can't see daylight through them) then you can run it just fine, especially at lowish boost levels. The only real band-aid fix is to have a larger stainless flapper installed. It's not too hard, but it takes doing it a couple times before you can do it perfect.
