it's all good, you should have seen the one doc boost sent me 
about 5 ripped traces, almost every contact completely removed 
i got her working eventually though.

dude, where did the ecu's you gave me come from? they were both chipped, and both fine. the only thing wrong with them was all the solder mess, i just desoldered all teh capacitors and resistors, cleaned up all the splattered solder and put new components in, good to go. also, one of them had a max232 installed already for data logging and p28 conversion. the other one had a p28 conversion, but the components had been removed. just curious where they came from or who did the work, you didn't really seem to know too much about them, so i didn't figure it was you.
