UPDATE! The head gasket appears to be not blown after all. Turns out, the thermostat housing did not have a gasket, and there was also a rusty crusty heater hose that was leaking. both fixed, and I will post results after the silicon dries on the housing.

so what's the deal with the engine? did the thermo housing fix fix everything? could I drive it 12 hours home or what?

i cannot vouch for it, as ive only driven it twice, both only a few miles. i dont see why it would not make it that far, other than it pulls a little to the right. engine runs in the normal range, even when its 110 degrees out, but as i said, ive only driven it twice.
