So what is prefered by the higher hp honda crowd, the std's or the race? ive allways used oem bearings on other motors, but this time im thinking of giving the ACL's a try and im not sure which to go with...

Well, they are both good bearings, but the Race bearing is the better choice for race engines hands down. It has everything the std bearing has alone with better oil flow, better coating, increased crush for better seating etc...

 

Gonna be ordering some race bearings the the bastard D as soon as I can figure out what size to get. Also are you just throwing in the lube and plasti-gauge for free w/ orders?

And longevity differences?

 

Coating for oil control and break-in. Normal daily driver type of motors need the bearings broken in as well (the normal idle for a while up to temp and then the 15 minute stand at idle afterwords before seating the rings), the coating on the race bearings allows loading the crank without a break in time. This is why race-motors usually have much looser tolerances though too.
