To fill ro not to fill....

Default To fill ro not to fill....

Contemplating filling my motor mounts. I have 2 or more of each one
Iv heard mixed results. ''supposed'' to help with launches and wheel hop. Some swear by it but iv also heard from more then one person all it did was make the hole car vibrate.

Im worried that most likely my new manifold will hit the hood webbing (will cut out if need be)
thinking the mounts will prevent motor from rocking more, but not sure if its worth the vibration if thats all it dose.

I think inserts are cheap enough I wouldn't ---- with it.

Although I don't know how big of an improvement they are.

I used window weld, works well. An extra $10 and you don't have to waut 24 hours for it to set, or deal with the mess.

Cut out all of your mount material and press delrin in. Poly filling isn't really hard enough and never 100% drys unless you do it in layers.

The PL roofing uerathane (sp) takes a long time to dry, and smells like sweet chocolate, but will be hard enough to dampen the rocking of the engine, yet soft enough to not have you vibrating. All the cars I've been in with the 3m window weld were rattle boxes. PL roofing uerathane is in the home depot painting section.

I like the feeling of filled/solid mounts. Makes everything feel stronger and more solid. And trust me, I learned the hard way that stock mounts and a manifold that sits your wastegate close to your hood will end badly.

Ill take it buy the responses you guys are in favor of solid mounts.

working in a body shop I can get window urethane for free or hella cheap (also have it on the spot, dont need to go get it)
I can also leave the mounts to cure for 2 months before the new motor is dropped in

next question, which mounts, is there such a thing as too much/stiff?
defiantly the rear tranny (firewall)
other tranny is stock
and timing belt is a ls/gsr aluminum stiffer one
while im at it should i do mt torque mounts?

i like window weld, but do it in 1/4" thick layers and cure it in an oven at 200-250*F on oiled wax paper in a pan you will never use for food

delrin is hardly cheap
