So i live pretty far out in the sticks where i can't get a hi speed connection yet and the cell signals suck, so i am still using a dial up connection. I was on my computer this morning on craigslist, my yahoo email and hotmail email. I never click on an email that i don't know who it is from. So, can you get viruses, or spyware from going to Craigslist? I am pretty computer illiterate, so i don't know what sites viruses are targeted on. I learned my lesson a couple years back cause i went to NOFX's website and it crashed my computer some how (pop-ups and froze up). I don't go many places.... here, email, and legit stores like bestbuy, wal-mart, and thats about it.

Before i knew of the problem this morning, i logged off, and when the screensaver popped up it was all slow and freaking out. Never did that before. I decided to get back on line and as soon as i click my netzero to dial, it does nothing, won't even make the dial tones. I check the task manger and it says "exec.exe is at 99%" and nothing else works. I end the process and everything goes back to normal except if i try to get back on line. I treid a couple more times after rebooting the computer and the same thing happens.

I have-
restored my computer to a week ago
i have searched for any wierd files
rebooted my laptop a couple of times and removed the battery

I don't have any kind of spyware/virus detection on that computer (i use it mainly with crome and freelog).

What else can i do? I suck at computers, but i am slowly learning. Also, is craigslist a bad site to go too where this can happen??

do that at a library or something, save it to a usb drive and run on home pc

Damn spyware/virus got me on my other computer too, ********, i finally just got back online a few minutes ago (its been at least 4 hours). It was conviently stored in my netzero program. Non of my spyware or antivirus ---- could find it. It is still on my computer though but its not running at the moment. I am trying now spyware terminator and see how that one works. Oh, i do have one computer literate friend. Thanks Mark!
