i have an nforce3 sli mob and 8600 gt nvidia

anywyas, when i put in an old hard drivve with no operating system just music and hook up the cd rom drive

i made it boot off the cd rom in the bios and put in a real windows xp boot cd

but it just sits there and says "cd/dvd boot..." but just sits there and doesnt do aything\

all the parts are new and good, and the master and slave are correct

so whats the deal, is there something im missin?g

 

which motherboard, which bios is on it, are you sure it'sa real disk? many iso's on the net will do that b/c they don't work. (download another one lol)

 

did you set the CD-rom as the primary boosting device?

lol whatever happened to you putting in a real windows xp boot disc?

Just go to a torrent site like btjunkie.com and download the windows xp with the most seeders/leechers, it's most likely good.

Also, burn at a low speed, for some ------- reason the discs I was burning would always ---- up at the i386/asms part, tried 3 different ISOs with same results, then tried burning one of them at a lower speed and it worked flawlessly.

right =) the trick is burn two onto cdrw's or if you have some some rw dvd's. Some of the iso's are good, but the files become corrupted in burning. If it refuses to copy a file after holding down return with a shoe for a minute, swap the disk & keep going.



GL finding one. another helpful hint. the XP install mother ------- FLIES when you burn it onto a DVD cause the seek & transfer speeds are sooooooooo much better than CD's.
