Default Do you let your car warmup?

This just bugs me. I see sooooo many people start up their car in the morning and before the ------- exhaust fumes make it out of the pipe that bitch is in gear and rolling. It kills me. I let the jeep sit for at least a few minutes before slamming it in gear and driving off like a mad man. I can't see how some people can just start it up and romp on it before the ------- oil has even reached the oil pump. I catch my gf trying to do it and I make her sit there and at least let the idle drop before driving off.

I start mine and floor it within 30 seconds.

Then again, i'm driving an a6 with over 225k miles on it that burns oil and is getting replaced in the near future. Also, you gotta floor it to get anywhere.

---- it.

I usually sit there until my oil pressure drops below 90 at idle.
Thats what i get for using 10w40.
But i would rather be safe then sorry i mean my car has 215,000 miles on it.
I don't romp on my car untill its up to temp because the turbo doesn't like to spool with lots of oil pressure and a cold engine.

I let my civic warm up because my wideband reads more accurate when its warm, plus I the horror stories of driving cold with forged pistons. all my other cars start it up and haul ***.

Bugs me too. You're not alone. I usually will wait a minute or so before driving. If I'm late for work, I'll idle for about 20 seconds, and start rolling, taking it super easy for about a minute or so.

My wife used to start-n-go, but I've since nipped that in the bud. Now I'm working on her "excessive" use of the a/c in the Expedition. It's about 5 minutes/2 miles from her work to the house, and the a/c takes about a minute to cool down anyway... I think I'm fighting a losing battle with this one though, since summers are about 110* outside. I tell her, "you've got windows...".

I was always told that running an engine cold is where most wear takes place.

That being said, they also told me that letting an engine sit and idle lets the engine running cold for the longest time, they said to get the thing moving down the road as soon as possible is best, but moving at a nice jentle drive and not railing on it. Their opinion was letting the engine idle was 2nd worse to railing on it which was obviously the worst thing in this guys eyes.

I always fired em up and tried not to hit the floorboard until the temp gauge was starting to pick up off of cold. But otherwise i never had a car i cared enough about.
