Default Apex'i VAFC without Turbo

I know this may be irrelevant to the forum, however, I am interested to know the benefits of having the Apex'i VAFC on my SOHC del sol that is yet to be boosted. Is it worth getting?

No. You won't get any gains out of it. Unless you have some serious motor work done to it your not going to need any extra fuel.

Actually, with the V-AFc, obviously, you can drop your V-TEC crossover point. If I/H/E has been modified, crossing over at a lower RPM would be beneficial. And, advanced ignition timing could take advantage of more fuel provided by the AFC during V-Tec activation.

I would say, if you already have it, install it and give your V-Tec an overhaul.

i use an smc which is bassically a vacf without display or vtec control and it works great on my n/a car. note: when vafc came out o don't think it was intended on what us hmt people use it for, that's why they call it the afc hack

Yes, but flowing more fuel into a motor that cannot flow enough air to use it has no point. You won't gain any horsepower from dumping fuel into the cylinders if the motor can't burn it. If you had I/H/E it might make a small difference, but for the $300 I would say 1-2 whp is not worth it. You might get a gain out of the timing advance, but you can just manualy advance your distributer to achieve that. I have seen dyno runs on VTEC crossovers and having your VTEC set at less than 5000 decreases horsepower.

I have a fields vtec/afc on my n/a d16z ,but i use it to lean out my a/f ratio since i am runnng an aem fuel rail amd b&m adjustabel f.p.r. this was causing me to run too rich at w.o.t. so the afc allowd me to dial in a semi-stoich setting.Like Dr.Boost said an n/a engine can not push out enough air to require adding more fuel.I learned that the expensive way!!
