XP reformat without original cd's. Possible without illegal keys etc?
I really need to reformat my old laptop and start fresh, but I lost the cd's. I really don't want to use any illegal keys etc as I realized I may need to use this thing for work now and then and don't want to risk being sued for something so stupid (we've been sued before)
I'm told any cd will work and I just need my original key to be legit. Is there any way to get my original key off the laptop before I start?
If not then I'm sure any of the installs my friends offered will work, just hate to take a legit install and wipe it for a 'pirated' one.
I'm obviously not that computer savy so be gentle lol.

Burn to DVD or blue-ray for a really fast install
Newbies use option 1 maybe 5.
My favorites are 7 & 5.
Lotaa stripped versions of vista around now too, but like all OS downloads. Its strongly advised to read comments to see which suck.

This is how I get fresh CD keys from school computers. Works awesome. Just download it and run it. It will show the key for windows and office if you got that installed too.

Forgot to add, make sure you get/download the XP cd of the same version and service pack because that's the only way your key will work.
It's perfectly legal to download a windows disk and use your legit key.

and tim, your key will be 25 characters, it it doesn't look as followed, it's not it xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx
