Default why are welds porous

I sexed these welds together with yea ol' flux. put everything together got it running and couldn't get it to boost. I would accelarate and boost gauge would go straight to 0 never anything positive. I pulled the pipes apart and hit them up with the soapy water and got a bubble bath. the holes are all smaller than a pinhole but there are tons of them.

This was one of the nice ones, didn't leak bad but had one or two pin holes

I tried going over again with yea ol' flux but no haps, the bitch is still leaking so...................I had to hit em' up with the majic ----.......... JB.

Question is.....why are my welds seeping like a pig.

BTW I figured a cool way to pressure test the pipes will post pics tonight. once I'm done JB'ing.

grind the welds down almost smooth and then apply jb weld, when the jb weld is ALMOST cured hit it w/ a file to smooth it down. fills the holes and doesnt look like ***. then paint.

try to slow down the speed and try a stitch weld. go back and forth across the seam.
make sure you use a wire brush before beginning.

As mentioned above, JB weld will NOT work. It will burn off slowly, and stink like hell as it does.

My advice is to throw that manifold in the garbage and start over. You cannot weld over JB weld, and it's a total bitch to grind out.

Are these the charge pipes? or the turbo manifold?

They are the charge pipes, they aren't holding a lot of pressure and not much temperature either, I figure they would hold. Don't most people weld their charge pipes?
