Default Hissing Turbo

When im just crusing at 2k rpms (vacume) my turbo seems to be making a screetching noise like the compressor blade is rubbing, but it only does it at certain times... what could this be, out of balance turbo? plus i was quoted $265shipped to rebuild my to4e 50 trim PTE turbo... good price?

Such noises normally happen when you have enough shaft play to allow wheel to housing contact. The fins rarely break but wear out against the housing. if it stops happening by itself, you are probably fine as the wheel diameter is now reduced to a correct size but IF it suddenly stops spooling and starts again it's because it jams and when that happens, the turbo is now out of balance for sure and will prematurely wear the bearings and it will always keep rubbing more and more until the wheels are no longer salvageable and at that point, a rebuild will be much much more expensive.
So don't wait on that preventive rebuild...

a BlaastPerformance preventive rebuild (assuming wheels are reusable) costs only 150$ shipped with 6 months warranty. If you want to pay 265$, no problem, we can throw in an extra 115$ worth of goodies! Such as a 360° thrust upgrade or watercooling!!
