i want to know why they are bad...

 

Output Amprage is fairly low on them. Only 2 heat settings on the 110 models, A good 110v model can almost put out the same amprage as the 220v one you listed.

 

They suck cause three are MIG welders and one is an oxy-acetalyne. The best thing to do is learn the art of TIG. TIG is no match for MIG.

 

Although TIG is the best and final way to go, I still feel that no true shop is complete without a MIG.

Also OXY-AC Welding is a really great, but REAL pain in the *** way to go. I wouldn't recommend it.

Also The first time I didn't look at the prices. For those prices it's might be worth a try. Also, Labatt, Beeing Canadian, and the 220v is a Local Auction to me, you would save on shipping and duties as you in Quebec right? I've actually seen advertisements in local papers/flyers for the guy who is selling it I think.

 

The main issues I have seen with the off brand mig machines is that they offer little adjustment and most of them have the wire feed motor burn out quickly.

 

Performance and reliability will not be the same you will get out of even a Hobart, much less a Miller. Also, you may find it harder to find tips, nozzles, and liners locally. If you buy a Hobart, Miller, or Lincoln machine, your consumables can be found at any local welding supplier. In other words, if you want to be able to find ----, get a machine that local shops use most, cause the suppliers will stock parts to keep them going. I doubt your local shops use HF machines.

It's your money. You get what you pay for and don't get what you don't pay for. A bicycle is much cheaper than a car, and will get you to work every day...but will it get you there the way you want (fast)? I doubt you ride a bicycle to work every day, and the savings difference in a car and a bicycle is a lot more than the difference in a HF welding machine and a decent welding machine.

 

I bought a brand nwe lincoln 135-T with a cart for $460 shipped. Its only 135 amps and only good for about 3/8" but I only useing for exhaust and traction bars. Its a great little machine for the money.

One of the big downfalls is the lack of adjustability of the current the last one looked decent but only had 4 "heat" settings. However I have a craftsman welder with four settings lie than and its not too bad. It is harder to get a nice looking weld though. Also with a generic machine, it will be next to impossible to find parts, like engloid said. try and find a used lincoln, miller or hobart. locally possibly. good machines like that last a long time, however they are hard to come by used for that reason.
