Damn; blew another one :(
Well.. you can add another toasted motor to my growing list :-p
So today I boosted my honda in 3rd gear and a wastegate hose popped off; overboosted; computer caught it and cut fuel at about 14psi (where fuel and spark should have been pretty conservative) but the engine died when i let off; didnt think anything of it; restarted it and its making a knocking noise... mother ******... Too bad because it was pulling hard as ---- right before it blew; you know what they say a motor runs it's strongest right before it blows.
Sure enough I pull the oil pan off and the cylinder farthest from the oil pump has a rod bearing that got beat up; not spun but beat up.
So now i'm tering my D16 down and parting it out. Then i'll be building up the B18A1 I have I still have three good (possibly 4) h beam rods out of my motor; the pistons are still fine; crank needs turning; block is fine and it has endyn posts etc etc etc. I should be able to part it out and build up this B18 since I found a b16 head from a friend of a friend for $150 and parts are out there.
I'm not really bummed out i half expected it; the non-balanced crank and high millage oil pump probably were what caused it. it's just too bad i never did get to see what that D had in it. That B18 will be killer though. Wiesco 10 over pistons; whatever rods i can find for a good deal; BALANCED CRANK this time; new oe VTEC oil pump; etc etc etc. Already have the motor and a trans just need some mounts and the internals

most likely it was NOT a high mileage oil pump and stock/unbalanced crank which caused the spun bearing.
it was the overrevving, leaning out and detonation from you staying in the gas to long which most likely caused it.
