Default reoiling shocks

i was wondering of anyone on here has reoiled their shocks. i have read a couple of small articles about it but none really explained it in detail. also if you have what oil did you use. i was told 25w would be good for a swift i assume that it would also be good on a civic but just want to make sure. i plan on doing this when i get an extra set of stock shocks.

i thought stock shocks were oil fill. and what you do is drill a hole towards the top of the body. drain the oil into a graduated cylinder. the refill with the same amount of the new oil then plug the hole. they suggest to weld it but i was planning to put a screw in there then cover with jb weld
